Software giant Microsoft is likely to lay off thousands of employees across human resources and engineering divisions, according to multiple media reports on Tuesday. The latest layoffs shall come after Microsoft cut nearly 1,000 jobs in July 2022.

Microsoft Layoffs : Downsizing Role

According to a report by news agency Reuters, thousands of roles are being reduce in Microsoft and as part of this retrenchment process, Microsoft will reduce 5 percent of its total functionality. Under this, a total of 11,000 roles will reduce. Which will mainly under Human Resource (HR) and Engineering Division.

Why Microsoft Reducing Employees

In fact, in view of the worsening global outlook, America’s big technology companies like Amazon, Meta are already getting retrench. Now the latest name is of Microsoft which is going to hand over pink slips to its employees. Microsoft has a total of 2 lakh 21 thousand full time employees and out of these 1 lakh 22 thousand employees work only in America. According to the filing of 30 June 2022, the company has 99,000 employees engaged in work internationally.

According to the report, Meta fire around 726 employees in the month of November. The company’s spokesperson Tracy Clayton claim that the decision to downsize. Office spaces was drive by the company’s shift towards remote work. But also due to being financially cautious give the current economic climate.
