Biswa Bhushan Harichandan is From Warriors Family
Biswa Bhushan Harichandan was born on 3 August 1934 in the house of a litterateur dramatist freedom fighter. Father Parshuram Harichandan is a great writer of Odisha. Biswa Bhushan was born in Khordha district of Odisha. Biswa has completed his Honors degree in Economics from SCS College, Puri, and LLB from MS Law College, Cuttack. After this, Biswa joined the High Court Bar in 1962 and the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1971. On the strength of hard work, as a political leader, Odisha now has seasoned politicians in the country.
Governor Biswa’s Political Career
Let us tell you that Harichandan had joined the historical JP movement. For this, he had to stay in jail for several months during the Emergency. As chairman of the High Court Bar Association Action Committee, he led the lawyers’ agitation in Odisha against the supersession of judges in the Supreme Court in 1974. After this Biswa Bhushan joined politics. Talking about his political career, till now Biswa has been elected to the Legislative Assembly 5 times in Odisha. He has won the assembly elections in 1977, 1990, 1996, 2000 and 2004.

Biswa Bhushan Harichandan is Founder of BJP Odisha
Apart from this, at the cost of his ability, Harichandan held the post of minister in Odisha government for 4 times. Harichandan has handled important departments like Revenue, Law, Rural Development, Industry, Food and Civil Supplies, Labor and Employment, Housing, Cultural, Fisheries and Animal Department.
Biswa Bhushan Harichandan was the founder of BJP in Odisha state in 1980. After this, he was elected president for three more terms till 1988. Apart from this, for 13 years i.e. from 1996 to 2009, he has also been the leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Odisha Legislative Assembly.
