Abdul Rehman Makki, Hafiz Saeed’s Kin Declared Global Terrorist by UNSC

Abdul Rehman Makki : Taking a big step, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Monday declared Pakistani terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist. Makki has declare a Global Terrorist under the 1267 ISIL (Daesh) and Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

Last year, India brought a proposal in the UN to declare Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist. But China had block it. In June, India had also reprimand China on this issue. In June 2022, India criticizen China for stalling the proposal to list terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki.

Abdul Rehman Makki Ban in India and America

The UN said in its statement, on January 16, 2023, the Security Council Committee put Abdul Rahman Makki on the banned list under the ISIL, Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee. According to the UNSC resolution on listing terrorists link to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State, Makki can no longer access funds, buy weapons and travel outside jurisdiction. India and America have already put Makki in the list of terrorists under their laws.

Makki Accuse of Plotting Attacks in India

Abdul Rehman Makki has conspiring to collect terror funds, instigate youths to attack, terror attacks against India, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. Makki is the brother-in-law of Hafiz Saeed, the Lashkar-e-Taiba chief and the mastermind of the Mumbai attacks. Makki has been involved in many Lashkar operations. He has also been raising funds for Lashkar’s operations. Makki is the deputy chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba. He is also the chief of Jamaad-ud-Dawa, the political party of Lashkar.

Abdul Rehman Makki : Anti-India Statement

Makki is know only for spewing venom against India. In the year 2010, he has also been in headlines for his anti-India statement. He had given a speech in Muzaffarabad eight days before the German Bakery blast in Pune and threatened to carry out terrorist attacks in three cities of India including Pune. On the demand of India, America had declared Makki a terrorist.

According to the US State Department, in 2020, Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Court found Makki guilty in the terror financing case. China has been putting obstacles in banning Pakistani terrorists for some time now. China has been repeatedly stalling resolutions against Maulana Masood Azhar, chief of the UN-banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
