Supreme Court Desicion on Haldwani Case

Today, the Supreme Court has put a stay on the decision of the High Court in the Haldwani railway land encroachment dispute. The Supreme Court has sought a detail report from all concern in a month. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, Justice Kaul said that there should a rehabilitation plan for the demolition. He had also talk about looking at the human aspect in this whole matter. On which the Supreme Court has issue a notice to the Government of Uttarakhand and the Railway Administration. With this decision of the Supreme Court, there is a wave of happiness among 50 thousand people living in Banbhulpura of Haldwani. People says that our prayer was accept.

Livelihood of Thousands of People

The question of livelihood of thousands of people is relate to this case. It may know that in the past, the Uttarakhand High Court had order to vacate the Banbhulpura area spread up to 2.19 km from Haldwani station. On the basis of this order, Railways has give notice to 50 thousand people of Banbhulpura to vacate their houses.

Petition Filed by Advocate Prashant Bhushan

A petition was filed by senior advocate Prashant Bhushan in the Supreme Court against the railway notice. Along with this, the doors of the Supreme Court also approach on behalf of the people who is affect by the encroachment. Under the railway’s notice, the deadline for vacating the house is being met on January 8. In this case, the Supreme Court will give its verdict today on whether the houses of 50 thousand people will save or destroy.

Haldwani Case: Occupy 78 Acres of Land

It may note that according to the reply give by the Railways. 4,365 families have illegally occupy 78 acres of Railway land in Haldwani. The order to vacate which was give by the Uttarakhand High Court in the past. About 50,000 people are living in this area. 90% of whom are Muslims. Those who have come on the streets to save their homes.

Instructions to Vacate by January 9

According to media reports, there are five wards in an area of 78 acres and there are about 25,000 voters. Elderly, pregnant women and children number close to 15,000. Following the Uttarakhand High Court order of 20 December, notices is issue in newspapers. Directing people to remove their household belongings by 9 January.
