Speed of INS Mormugao
Y 12705 (Mormugao) is the second ship of the Project 15B stealth guided missile destroyer being built at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). The ship is 163 meters long and 17 meters wide. Displaces 7400 tons when fully loaded and has a maximum speed of 30 knots.

Equipped With State Of The Art Weapons
According to the Defense Ministry, Mormugao’s indigenous equipment includes medium-range surface-to-air missiles (manufactured by BEL), BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles (BrahMos Aerospace), indigenous torpedo tube launchers (Larsen & Toubro) , Anti-Submarine Rocket Launcher (Larsen & Toubro) and 76 mm Super Rapid Gun Mount (BHEL).

Why is Mormugao name so? Mormugao is name after the historic Goa port city on the west coast. Incidentally, the vessel first put to sea on 19 December 2021. Mormugao has designe by the indigenous organization of the Indian Navy. On this day 60 years of the liberation of Goa from the Portuguese rule were complete.
